A story that's currently trending nationwide unfortunately doesn't reflect the best of Connecticut's criminal minds. It's safe to say that these two guys from Cromwell may not be the brightest in the state.

According to the Hartford Courant, police say that 21-year-old Noah Yankowski and 21-year-old Zachary Pillarella approached an off-duty officer who was just leaving the station after his shift at about 2:15 AM Sunday (June 23). The report says that the dynamic duo told the officer that they looking to buy cocaine and would need to go to the ATM in order to do so. Out of the kindness of his heart, the off-duty cop told these bright young lads that there was an ATM conveniently located just inside the lobby of the Police Station. They got their cash, and as they went to buy their late-night booger sugar, things didn't end well for them.

Yankowski and Pillarella were arrested and charged with criminal attempt and conspiracy to possess narcotics, while their $60 was tagged as evidence.

Hartford Deputy Chief Brian Foley told the Courant:

While given their inexperience, they are likely not addicts…at any rate, hopefully they get the help they need, and this arrest will steer them away from narcotics in the future.

All I can say about this one is WOW! I can't wait until these two geniuses are featured on the next season of Masterminds for their brilliant criminal escapades.
