This past Saturday night my family and I went to check out the 2014 Danbury Whalers at the Danbury Ice Arena.

First off I have to thank Herm for the tickets and for keeping not only us, but the entire crowd entertained all evening. Herm is not only the owner of the team, but he's jack of all trades at the game. From acting as M/C in games like "chuck a puck", "score to win", "R/C car ice races", and whacking prize balls into the stands with a tennis racket, to judging in stand Dance Contest's for game tickets, he really keeps things fun and family friendly. And oh yea he also makes sure "Everybody in the crowd wins Chicken Wings" !!!!!

The quality of Hockey is good as well. These guys play hard and play rough. About 6 of players from last years Championship Team are back, and head coach Phil Esposito has surrounded the returning players with a great group of talented and hungry future stars. During his tenure in Danbury, Esposito has had over 50 Danbury Whaler players promoted to AAA and AA.

Despite the 5-1 loss to the Watertown Privateers, no one went home unhappy, a good time was had by all. Plus the Whalers got the last laugh with a 3-2 last second win over the same team Sunday afternoon. If you haven't checked out the Federal Hockey League action yet at The Danbury Ice Arena you can get tickets and full team schedule on the Whalers site, just click HERE
