Recently, it seems that the two heads of Danbury City Government have been taking turns with hospital stays.

Last month, Mayor Mark Boughton was rushed to the hospital after passing out at a Republican rally in Avon, and now, Danbury City Council President Joe Cavo is taking his turn recovering in a hospital bed from heart bypass surgery.

Cavo had planned to have the bypass procedure done in the near future, but it was pushed up after he felt ill earlier this week. I got a chance to talk with his wife Liz and she told me that Joe is doing well:

Joe is doing fine after the surgery, and is now resting comfortably in Bridgeport Hospital. The bypass took a little longer then expected, but that's just because Joe has such a big heart. Everything went well and he should be his old self in no time.

Mayor Mark commented to newstimes.com about his long time friends progress:

Thankfully he’s doing okay now and is getting on the road to recovery, His family is down there with him now and I’m going to go down there and see him when he’s feeling better, maybe this weekend.

Cavo is expected to take some time off to recover, but knowing Joe like I do, don't be surprised to see him back in the Common Council President's chair in time for the City Council's May budget meeting.
