Verizon Wireless, along with Homeland Towers and Cellco, is proposing a cell phone tower at 100 Pocono Lane right near the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department. This tower is expected to strengthen their signal to customers along Routes 7, 25,133 and 202.

That will be one big tower in Brookfield, CT.

I had a home in Brookfield for 12 years, and I have worked here for 14. I have lived through the asbestos at Wisconier Middle School, compression station meetings and lots more. I raised my two boys in this beautiful town. I know how proud its residents are. I also know that there are a lot of pros and cons of having a big ole cell tower in your backyard.

If you live, work or just drive through the area then you know how frustrating it can be driving through certain "dead zones."

But what about that big tower? Will it pose any problems? Will it be an eye sore?

A notice posted by the Connecticut Siting Council invites residents to a public forum on August 2 at 7:00pm. Bring your questions and your cell phone to Brookfield Town Hall room 133.
