  • Sad news to report. A hiker is dead after falling at Hubbard Park in Meriden. Investigators say another hiker found the injured person around 6:30 p.m. yesterday near a castle on one of the trails and they are currently investigating what happened. The hiker died from injuries sustained in the fall.
  • Connecticut's ban on variable electric rate contracts takes effect today. The ban was put into place after many residents complained that they signed contracts at lower rates, then saw them balloon to much higher rates when the promotional one expired. Connecticut is the first state in the nation to ban these types of power contracts.
  • Amtrak travelers beware. Starting today, Amtrak passengers will be limited to two carry-on bags and two personal items. Anyone going over that limit will have to pay 20-dollars for each extra bag. There's also a fee on Amtrak for overweight bags. Carry-on bags have a 50-pound limit and personal items like purses and laptops now have a 25-pound limit.
  • Maybe you can catch a glimpse of the stars.  Clint Eastwood's Miracle on the Hudson movie is shooting in New York City this week.The movie is the story of Captain "Sully" Sullenberger who was piloting a US Airways jet when a flock of geese jammed his engines on takeoff from LaGuardia Airport. Sullenberger, is being played by Tom Hanks,  Laura Linney plays Sully's wife and Aaron Eckhart is his co-pilot.
