Last week, we reported a plan by CT State Police to make travel safer this past Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. From midnight Wednesday 11/22/17 to midnight Sunday 11/26/17, patrols were beefed up in several parts of the state focusing primarily on DUI and aggressive drivers.

This is how this past weekend's numbers compared with Thanksgiving Weekend 2016:

Sadly, there were two traffic related deaths in Connecticut this past weekend.

The first fatality was an early morning accident on Wednesday. 26-year-old Hope Butler of Warwick, Rhode Island was traveling on Route 6 in Killingly when she struck a tree. She was transported to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam where she succumbed to her injuries. This accident is still being investigated.

The second person to lose their life this weekend was 50-year-old Michael Rogers of Wethersfield, who also struck a tree when his car veered off I-91 at exit 21 northbound. This accident is also still under investigation and police ask anyone with information to contact Troop H at 860-534-1000.
