Just as we're seeing the circus close down forever, the founder of the world famous Barnum and Bailey circus, PT Barnum is getting the Hollywood treatment. Hugh Jackman is playing Phineas Taylor Barnum in the movie The Greatest Showman, which is expected to be released in December.

Wikipedia says that PT Barnum was born in Bethel, served as mayor of Bridgeport, was a member of the Connecticut legislature, and is laid to rest in Bridgeport. He entered the circus industry late in life, at 60 years old.

The circus he founded, the Barnum and Bailey Circus, became world renowned for freak shows acrobats animals thrilling exhibits which turned out often times to be hoaxes and more.

In December, onset-hollywood.com reported that The Greatest Showman on Earth was filming at at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club, in Briarcliff Manor, NY. There is also word that  Bronx Community College is being used as a film location these days as well.

According to IMDB, other stars in the film include Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Williams and Zac Effron.
