****Warning: Contains spoilers if you haven't seen the movie!****

These days I don't get to the movies as often as I would like. One movie I really wanted to catch in the theaters was Jurassic World, but it never worked out. The trailer looked great and I had high hopes.

We were finally able to watch it last night and I was not disappointed. Some parts were a little cheesy, but for the most part I thought it was well-written and the actors did a great job portraying the characters. It's definitely a movie I will watch again.

****Here's where the spoilers come in.****

What I really loved were the nods to the original movie. Aside from the fact that Dr. Henry Wu returns with bit of a bigger role in the new movie and the multiple mentions of John Hammond (including the center being named after him), there are some really fun nods to Jurassic Park.

Remember the little cartoon DNA strand from the first movie when Hammond was giving the tour? He appears in the movie, when the boys, Zach and Gray, first get to Jurassic World and are checking out the Visitor's Center.

Speaking of the Visitor's Center, once all hell breaks loose and the boys have to find their way back to the park they stumble upon the old Visitor's Center. And, yes, they go in to explore! So you get to see the remnants of the end fight scene between the T-Rex and the raptors. They even find part of the banner that fell as the T-Rex was roaring (When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth).

When they head deeper into the old Visitor's Center they find the old helmets with the night vision goggles that attracted the T-Rex in the first movie and the old Jeeps that Ellie and Muldoon used for their search were also there. The boys were able to restart one of the Jeeps and use it to get back to the park. Loved seeing all these parts from the old movie!

Another part that was reminiscent of the original movie was when they showed a vehicle filled with guests of the park riding through a pack of running dinosaurs. This scene is pretty identical to the scene with Dr. Grant, Lex, and Tim from the Jurassic Park movie.

For more nods from Jurassic World to Jurassic Park check out this list from slashfilm.com. I'm going to have to watch the movie again with this list.

Here is the scene where the boys explore the old Visitor's Center. Listen closely to the music that is playing.
