Danbury Teenager Makes All-American Soccer Team
It's one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on an athlete, being named an All American, and it's happened to Kristen Roessler, a senior soccer goalkeeper at Immaculate High School in Danbury.
Kristen was recently selected to the 2017 Fall High School Girls All-America Team by United Soccer Coaches, which is the largest soccer coaches organization in the world. Kristen, who lives in Danbury and attends Immaculate High School, is one of only 60 girls in the country to receive this honor, according to the Patch.
Tim Dunn, Athletic Director at Immaculate High School, told patch.com that Kristen's selection as one of the best soccer players in the nation is most deserving:
Immaculate High School is very proud of Kristen and her accomplishments athletically, civically and academically.
Her Coach, Nelson Mingachos, who was named the 2017 SWC Soccer Coach of the Year, also had lot's of praise for Kristen.
I'm just so proud of Kristen and what she has accomplished here at Immaculate -- she follows a lot of great goalies that have graduated before her. I look forward in seeing what she accomplishes in the four years after graduation.
Not only was Kristen named to the All-American Team, but she was also named to the All-New England Team, All- State and First Team All-SWC. Plus, Roessler lead the Mustangs to a 19-1 record this season and an SWC Championship.
Kristen has committed to play soccer at Central Connecticut State University in 2018, where she plans to study finance.
