I have been going back and forth as to whether or not I should pay to see Jurassic World. Loved the first movie, didn't like the second movie, and the third one was okay. So, I can't decide if this one is worth the ticket price (and the popcorn price).

Then I found this interesting theory floating around on the internet this weekend and it has pushed me a little more towards seeing it.

The theory is that Chris Pratt's character is the kid from the first movie that Dr. Grant freaks out with his description of a raptor attack. According to the Huffington Post, the theory started circulating when the trailer came out.

Here are the reasons for the theory:

  1. In Jurassic Park Dr. Grant tells the kid to "show a little respect" for raptors and in Jurassic World Pratt says that his relationship with the raptors is based on respect.
  2. Pratt is only year younger than the original actor who played the kid (known as "Volunteer Boy"), so the timing matches pretty well.
  3. In Jurassic Park Grant tells the kids that raptors attack from the sides and in the clips from Jurassic World you can see Pratt's character is well aware of the side attacks.
  4. Even the director isn't dispelling the rumor. When asked, Colin Trevorrow said that he didn't want to answer, because "speculation is so much fun."

There is another theory that the kids in Jurassic World are at the park because of "Coupon Day", which of course was suggested by the lawyer in Jurassic Park.

I don't know if they writers had the theory in mind when they wrote the script, but it's fun to think they did. If I do end up see the movie in the theater, I'm going to go with the idea that Pratt's character is the kid from Jurassic Park. It's fun to think that Dr. Grant, who wasn't great with kids, had such an impact on him as a kid.

Do you think the theory works or makes sense? If you saw the movie this weekend, let us know what you thought of it in the comments!
