It’s Time For The “Varsity” to Take The Field
O.K. Dan Hopkins has his Met's, and we have a few Red Sox fans around here as well, but today it's my turn. The Yankees take the field for 2014.
Since I was a kid and got my first Mickey Mantle baseball card, (now worth a small fortune) I have been a die hard Yankees fan. My Mom threw away all my cards many years ago, but ever since I've been a fan of the Bronx Bombers.
This year the Yankees start their season in Houston vs the Astro's. That magical Yankee Stadium opening is set for Tuesday afternoon at the big ball yard in the Bronx.
Also this year there a a few new faces like Japanese superstar Masahiro Tanaka.
Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran were also off season signings. The former Atlanta Brave and former Met and Cardinal should add that much needed pop to the Yankee bats.
And the Yankees stole one from their biggest rival, Jacoby Ellsbury comes to New York from Boston to patrol the center field pasture.
So this is it, let the games begin. The great thing about the start of the season is that everyone is on the same playing field, and everyone has dreams of baseball in October. So who ever you route for enjoy the season, and enjoy the magic that is baseball. You know I'll be watching tonight as the Varsity takes the field.
