Jimmie Johnson took home the win for Hendrick Motorsports this weekend on a very late Saturday night at the Spongebob Squarepants 400.

Yes, you heard it right, the Spongebob Squarepants 400 to promote a new DVD movie release by Nickelodeon and the yellow man himself.

According to NASCAR, thanks to some massive storms, the race was delayed and delayed throughout Saturday night and it ended up finishing up early Sunday morning on Mother's Day itself.  This was the first race to happen on Mother's Day since 2007, as NASCAR normally doesn't race on the holiday.

Jimmie held off Kevin Harvick from passing him towards the end of the race for final 5 or 6 laps, taking the checkered flag just after midnight, into Sunday.

According to NASCAR, Jimmie admitted it was quite the race:

It was a long, hard night...Once we got up front, we were able to hang on.

To sum of the rest of the top 5 finishers who were all Chevys, we had Kevin Harvick in 2nd, Dale Jr in 3rd, my boy Jeff Gordon coming in 4th, and Joey Lagano rounding up the top 5 in his Ford.

The next two weeks, NASCAR is staying in it's hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina for the All Star Race this coming weekend, and the Coca Cola 600 the following week.

Can I tell you how much I LOVE the city of Charlotte?  That's for another day..
