On the last episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver he showed a music video that was very funny, but also had a very serious message. Musicians want politicians to stop using their songs.

I have to say, I agree with them. If there is no permission given for that person to use the song at their event, then they shouldn't be playing the song and should probably be sued if they do play it. I don't understand why people think it's okay, do they not understand what stealing is?

It makes no difference what party the person is with, they all need to stop doing this. It's not fair to the artists or to the writers of the songs (if the musician didn't write the song themselves).

The artists in the video are:

  • Sheryl Crowe
  • John Mellencamp
  • Nancy Wilson
  • Ann Wilson
  • Josh Groban
  • Usher
  • Michael Bolton
  • dan Reynolds
  • Cyndi Lauper

The video is below and it's impressive who they got to participate in it. The tune is pretty catchy, but as they say in the song, "Just to be clearer, you can't use this song either." The video should be at the right spot, but if it starts at the beginning just go forward to the 3:25 mark.

I think the video is pretty funny while getting a serious message across.
