Fairfield County remembers the days of Joseph Ganim being the mayor Bridgeport from 1991 to 2003, and all the fun & games that occurred.

I use the words "fun and games" loosely, where in reality his mayoral years included scandal and corruption.

According to NBC Connecticut, during his time as mayor, Ganim was
indited on 16 counts of corruption giving him access to city contracts in exchange for gifts, cash, personal uses such as home improvements and more. He spent over seven years in prison after these events took place.

Now it looks like Ganim is getting set to head up against current Mayor Bill Finch in the democratic mayoral race. NBC Connecticut confirms that Mr. Ganim filed papers to enter the race and will launch his campaign later this month.

Ganim calls Bridgeport a "comeback city", which I think we can all agree on, has gotten better over the last 15 or so years regarding it's qualify of life and crime.

There was a time where it couldn't have been any worse, where today, I feel somewhat safe in most of the city. Living in the north end of Bridgeport for a couple years, I truly enjoyed the location for the most part.

Does Ganim really think he has a chance?  Will Bridgeport come to their senses?  What sets him apart from Bill Finch?  We'll see!
