Kacey Musgraves surprised Weezer fans on Wednesday night (July 13) at Nashville's Ascend Amphitheater when she joined the band on stage for a performance of their beachy 2001 hit "Island in the Sun."

"Let's take you to the island," frontman Rivers Cuomo said before the two began to sing.

Cuomo and Musgraves traded verses on the song, and Musgraves harmonized on the chorus as an image of palm trees played in the background and beach balls surrounded the stage.

A fan of Weezer herself, Musgraves has often covered the band's song "Island in the Sun" live in her own concerts. Weezer aren't the only fans of the singer, though — recently, Josh Abbott of the Josh Abbott Band raved about Musgraves in an interview with BMI.

When asked which songwriters he admires, Abbott immediately mentioned Musgraves, a fellow Texan who sang on the Josh Abbott Band hit “Oh, Tonight.” The biggest hit for the band so far, “Oh, Tonight” peaked at No. 41 on the country charts in 2011.

“I’m a big fan of Kacey Musgraves, I think she’s the female savior of country music,” he says. “I think, 30 years from now, she’ll be iconic in a way that Dolly Parton is.”

More recently, Musgraves lent her vocals to "Hands," a song that was written and released to raise money for victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, Fla., last month.

“I’m so incredibly proud to be a part of this gorgeous musical tribute, ‘Hands,’ with a ton of great artists. [I’m sandwiched between @selenagomez & Mary J. Blige] It was written by some of my friends," she says. "Please go download. All proceeds go towards the victims of the Orlando tragedy and to LGBT organizations."
