I have wanted a Fitbit for a long time and was actually given one at Christmas (a pretty purple one). I love this thing!

It keeps track of your steps and there's a free app you can download on your phone to keep track of your steps, calorie intake, the amount of water you drink, etc.

Just an FYI, if you have an iPhone 5s or newer, you can keep the phone in your back pocket and it will track your steps that way too (that's how my husband does it).

I used to be a gym person ... sort of. I never loved going to the gym, but I knew I would feel so much better after my workout. The problem is, I don't have much time these days to hit the gym.

So, I had to come up with an alternative, enter the Fitbit.

With the cold weather here it's hard to get out and go for a good walk, but I need to get my steps in and light up all five dots on the Fitbit. Plus, my husband and I usually compete during the week to see who can get the most steps.

So, I have to get moving during the day, because I'm competitive and need to win. :-)

My solution, doing laps in my house. Seriously.

I walk around the house to get my steps in and I'll usually do a few sets of walking (at a quick pace) up and down the stairs five times. My neighbors must think I'm nuts! It works though.

I'm down about five pounds already, so crazy or not, I'm going to keep it going! Just because you can't go for a walk outside, doesn't mean you have to skip it. You can put on some music (may I suggest KICKS 105.5) and go to it.

Your summer-self will thank you ;-)

I will leave you with this warm thought:
