Danbury Parents Are Invited to Drugs & Alcohol Presentation at Immaculate High School

Three local organizations have banded together to offer assistance to local parents in the battle against drug and alcohol abuse among Connecticut youth. Please don't miss your chance to participate.

Every damn day, it's an uphill battle when it comes to drug, alcohol, and substance abuse. The heroin epidemic not only in Connecticut, but around our country has reached pretty staggering proportions. Any chance to be armed with the tools to fight is a positive thing.

It's also no surprise that the numbers are large when it comes to the youth of our country falling prey to substance abuse. I want to share this information from the Danbury News Times about a free event happening in Danbury Tuesday night March 21 at Immaculate High School, 73 Southern Boulevard in Danbury.

While the event is being hosted by IHS, it's open to all parents as well as the community at large. The presentation is titled Parents Matter: Drugs, Alcohol, Your Teen and You. The event is co-sponsored by the Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism and the speaker for Tuesday night's event is Terry Budlong, who is not only the Director of Prevention Services for the Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism but also co-chair of Danbury’s local substance abuse prevention coalition, Stand Together Make a Difference.

According to newstimes.com Budlong will talk about the development of the adolescent brain, factors that put kids at risk for substance abuse, and more.

We see over and over again the message that parents who take the time to talk with their kids about the dangers of drugs and alcohol can make a huge difference on whether their children use.
