Ouch: Man Shoots Himself in the Rear-End at a Connecticut Restaurant

So there I was, reaching for my wallet, and all of a sudden, BAM, my ass is on fire!

It really wasn't me, it was a dude from Bridgeport who was reaching for his wallet and accidentally pulled his weapon from its holster and shot himself in the ass, according to WTAE Action News.

The shooting took place at Tazza Osteria & Bar in Fairfield when Michael Southmayd stood up to reach for his wallet to pay the check, and WHAM-O, he's got a bullet in his butt. This is a perfect example of why having your carry permit could put you at a disadvantage.

To add insult to injury, Southmayd, who was having dinner with his family, may be facing charges of unlawful discharge of a firearm. He was not drinking any alcohol at the time.

Police say that restaurant patrons didn't duck for cover because the shot was not that noticeable. The bullet became lodged in the floor. Southmayd was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment.
