Miranda Lambert is standing up to haters and speaking from the heart about how she uses social media.

“Every now and then I decide to re-join the world of social media and post something really personal. Not promoting anyone or anything. Not selling a better version of myself to anyone or trying to look cool like we all do all the time,” the "Vice" singer begins in a Friday morning (Nov. 4) post on Instagram. The picture finds the singer in a beautiful setting — glowing on an early morning trail ride in Tennessee, seated on the back of one of her favorite horses, a Gypsy Vanner named Leiani. But the tone of the post is not positive.

The CMA Award nominee references another photo she shared on Nov. 3, the day after the 2016 CMA Awards, all glammed up and looking fabulous alongside boyfriend Anderson East, ready for the night’s festivities. She notes that many of the comments left below the image were hurtful ones, prompting the singer to make a statement.

"Last night I was all dolled up and 'out on the town' with my sweet man at the CMA Awards in Nashville. I was excited about the night and posted a picture," she continues. "Just now when I looked I realized so many comments were judgmental and negative. Cowardly people hiding behind a keyboard or a cell phone writing their useless comments about our eyes and clothes and body language. What a bunch of bullsh--. Thank y'all for reminding me why I read books, write songs and spend most of my time with animals and people I trust and love."

She ends her post with an empowering quote from the late poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou about how “words are things” and the power they can have on those who receive them. Lambert was also featured in a special CMA Awards edition of Jimmy Kimmel's 'Mean Tweets' this week.

Her new album, The Weight of These Wings, debuts on Nov. 18. It features a two-disc set with 12 songs each, including her chart-topping hit "Vice."
