You read that right. There is a missing wallaby in New York.

A year ago Indy, a 6-year-old wallaby, went missing from his home in North Salem, according to the Putnam Daily Voice.

The Saks family, who Indy lived with, had almost given up hope. Then the got a call a few weeks ago about a possible sighting in Patterson. Susan Saks said they have not completely given up hope, but they were sure he would not have been able to survive the harsh winter we just had.

Indy lived with the Saks family for five years.

They rescued him from someone who was keeping him in a playpen. The family has tried to place Indy with a zoo, but the zoo declined to take him because they already had wallabies and Indy is neutered. I

f they do find him, they will continue to try to place him somewhere to be with other wallabies and to be free.

Susan said Indy likes to eat roses, Wheat Thins, Triskets, rice cakes, and sweet potatoes. If you see Indy please call the Saks family at (914) 669-0006 or (646) 628-6228.

They miss their wallaby like you would miss your pet and want nothing more than to have him home and safe.
