Congratulations to Mo Pitney and his wife Emily: The couple is expecting their first child!

Radio station Q85.5 in Rockford, Ill. -- right near Pitney's hometown of Cherry Valley -- broke the news, sharing photos that Pitney's mother had posted on Facebook, in which the rising artist and his wife are holding a pair of children's overalls and a sign reading "Boy or a Girl Thing?" (a reference to Pitney's recent single, "Boy and a Girl Thing"). A rep for Pitney confirms to Country Aircheck that the baby is due in February, though Pitney himself has yet to announce the news on social media.

Pitney and his now-wife were engaged in September of 2015 and married in early March, in Emily's hometown of Carbondale, Ill. The pair met there as teenagers, while both performing at a bluegrass festival.

“I went home and told all my buddies, ‘I just saw the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen in my life,'” Pitney recalls. However, “I found myself always kind of chasing her around … Her mom had advised her to stay away from me at the time … Her mom said she thought I was way too full of myself back then … And she was right, too. I was pretty arrogant back then.”

Pitney and Bankester reconnected a couple of years ago, after both had similar faith-related experiences. They began talking regularly, and “[a]ll of a sudden, we both kind of realized that we weren’t just friends anymore. We realized we wanted to be more than just friends.” From there, “Things moved pretty quickly,” Pitney adds, with the couple managing a long-distance relationship. Pitney bought an engagement ring after they’d been dating for 10 months.

On Oct. 7, Pitney will release his debut album, Behind This Guitar. The project will feature 12 tracks, 10 of which Pitney wrote.
