Money Transfering Service Suspended For Fraud at Danbury Location, Authorities Say
The Connecticut Department of Banking Commissioner is asking residents who may have used the money transmitter Century Union Services, LLC, and did not receive the services they paid for, to come forward.
Three financial institutions who have been linked to using Century Union have been issued a summary suspension and a temporary order to cease and desist.
Century Union is a Massachusetts limited liability company that maintains a license to engage in the business of money transmission in Connecticut. One of the locations effected is Bem Brasil on White Street in Danbury. Other locations are in Hartford and Bridgeport.
The commissioner alleges that Century Union failed to transmit money or monetary value received from consumers and that they engaged in fraud, intentional misrepresentation, or negligence.
If you think you were effected and are entitled to retribution, the DOB is suggesting that consumers send an e-mail to email@example.com to notify the insurance company, Capitol Indemnity Corporation, of the claim. Consumers should include their complete mailing address.
