More information is coming in about the unexpected death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

According to CNN, Justice Scalia died in his sleep during a hunting trip in Texas. Friday night he told friends that he was not feeling well and went up to bed. The next morning someone who works at the ranch went to check on him, when he didn't show for breakfast, and found him unresponsive.

CNN also reports that the U.S. Marshals Service will be taking care of the arrangements of his body being returned to his home in Virginia. The U.S. Marshals were there already to help with security, as they sometimes do when justices travel.

Chief Justice John Roberts released a statement saying,

"He was an extraordinary individual and jurist, admired and treasured by his colleagues," Roberts said. "His passing is a great loss to the court and the country he so loyally served. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife Maureen and his family."

Now comes the political fight as some are saying the seat should be filled by President Obama and others are saying the nomination for the seat should wait until the next president is elected.

"[The President] shall have Power, by and with the advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate,  shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and for which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments."

So, this year should be interesting for many reasons.

At the time of writing, a cause of death has not yet been released. Justice Scalia was 79.
