How did this become a thing? I know one of the shows we watch has been doing it almost since the show began, but I just don't understand why.

I remember when shows used to run from September until the end of May or so. Yes, there were reruns throughout the year, but the shows didn't take a month or two off.

A good example is Grimm. This is one of our favorite shows, but they don't start their season until October (usually the end of October) and then they usually end up taking some of December and a little of January off from filming. That's after starting at the end of October.

I know Sleepy Hollow is taking a winter break and it looks like a bunch of our other shows are going to be off for at least a month. Not sure why this has become a trend. I'm guessing it has to do with how much the actors make, but that's just me speculating.

You can check out a list of shows that will be taking a winter break at TV Line.

Are any of your shows on the list?
