The Grammy's happen this Sunday night, so I figured this would be a good time to tell you which Country Music artist or group would take home music's top honor.

I'm not a gambling man, but when it comes to Grammy prognostication I can't resist. So bet the ranch and away we go !!!! (My picks are in bold, and I'll tell you why I've made the pick under each category)

2014 Grammy Awards Nominees (Country):

Best Country Album
Jason Aldean, ‘Night Train’
Tim McGraw, ‘Two Lanes of Freedom’
Kacey Musgraves, ‘Same Trailer Different Park’
Blake Shelton, ‘Based on a True Story…’
Taylor Swift, ‘Red’

Why I made this pick:  I love Kasey Musgraves. I think she's one of the brightest most talented singer/songwriters to come along in quite a while. Not only did she put together a fantastic first album, but in her spare time she penned "Mama's Broken Heart" for Miranda. Blake and Tim both had good albums, but neither made the impact that Musgraves did.

Best Country Solo Performance
Lee Brice, ‘I Drive Your Truck’
Hunter Hayes, ‘I Want Crazy’
Miranda Lambert, ‘Mama’s Broken Heart’
Darius Rucker, ‘Wagon Wheel’
Blake Shelton, ‘Mine Would Be You’

loading...

Why I made this pick: He asked for it, and he'll get it. Darius said it would be shameful if this song wasn't nominated...well it was and it will win. It was one of the biggest country hits of the year, and you can't listen to the song without singing along for hours after you hear it.

Best Country Duo/Group Performance

The Civil Wars, ‘From This Valley’
Kelly Clarkson feat. Vince Gill, ‘Don’t Rush’
Little Big Town, ‘Your Side of the Bed’
Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift & Keith Urban, ‘Highway Don’t Care’
Kenny Rogers with Dolly Parton, ‘You Can’t Make Old Friends’

loading...

Why I made this pick: If your going by star and hit power the only song that even stands a chance is Tim and Taylor's "Highway Don't Care". The others were just not big enough hit's. However you gotta put your mind in the head of the Grammy voters. This is probably the last time ever that Dolly and Kenny will do a song together, so I have to pick them as the sentimental favorite....Kinda like a lifetime achievement award.

Best Country Song
Taylor Swift, ‘Begin Again’
Lee Brice, ‘I Drive Your Truck’
Miranda Lambert, ‘Mama’s Broken Heart’
Kacey Musgraves, ‘Merry Go ‘Round’
Blake Shelton, ‘Mine Would Be You’

loading...

Why I made this pick: The name of the category is "Best Country Song" and Lee's "I Drive Your Truck" is truly a great one. Not only does it pay tribute to our fallen Military hero's, but it has an emotional level not found in any other song released this year. I know this song took home the CMA in this category, but for once let's hope the disharmony between the Grammy voters and the CMA voters is put behind them.

** Taylor Swift is also nominated for overall Album of the Year for "Red" (This time no surprise face)...she'll be shut out Sunday night.

Kasey Musgraves is also nominated in the overall Best New Artist category. Even though I'd love to see her get a win there too, it's possible, but I don't think the Grammy voters will let a country artist take this one.

Who will take home the night’s biggest prizes? We don’t have long to wait to find out! The 56th annual Grammy Awards will air this Sunday, Jan. 26 at 8pm on CBS.

Now let the debates begin. You can agree or disagree with my picks in the comments section below. I'd love to hear from you.
