This weekend was completely exhausting and it had nothing to do with Thanksgiving or Black Friday. The kids got sick and it's been a little crazy, to say the least.

It started with my daughter, but my husband was home and helped a lot. This weekend it was my son's turn to be sick, but my husband was in Florida for a memorial for his grandfather who just passed away.

So it was just me and the kids all weekend. It would have been fine had he not gotten sick, but as I type this I'm going on a total of five hours of sleep from the past couple of nights.

Both kids have now been sick with Fifth Disease, so there was a lot of sitting up with my 2-year-old while he got sick, poor little guy. There's nothing you can do, since it's viral. Just be with them and comfort them. The good news is most of us have had this as kids and once you have it you are immune. So fingers crossed my husband and I don't get it!

The reason I am writing this is to acknowledge all the single parents who do this constantly, with no breaks. This weekend has been hard enough and I have so much respect for those that are raising their kids on their own on a daily basis. I am seriously impressed, because I'm ready to hit the floor after just a couple of days alone with a preschooler and a sick 2-year-old.

Time for more caffeine...
