This winter was rough and it is leaving its mark on roads all over Connecticut and New York. Cars are getting damaged quite a bit from blown tires to damaged front ends.

There are ways to report the potholes and also submit a claim for reimbursement for the damage. Here is a list of contact information to hold on to until the road crews can get the asphalt and start filling the potholes.

Connecticut:

  • If a pothole on a state road caused damage to your car you can submit a claim here. You can check Section 13a-144 for details if you are not sure.
  • In Bethel, you can contact Public Works here.
  • To submit a concern or complaint to Public Works in Brookfield, click here.
  • In Danbury you can call CityLine 311 to report potholes around the city. The Mayor is encouraging people to report them, so Danbury can take care of them as best they can until the asphalt is available.
  • For Public Works contact information in New Fairfield, click here.
  • To contact Public Works in New Milford, click here.
  • In Newtown you can report potholes here.
  • To contact the Ridgefield Highway Department, click here.

In New York:

  • To report potholes in New York State you can call 1-800-PotHole. To submit to the State DOT, click here. For the Thruway form, click here.
  • To contact Public Works in Dutchess County, click here.
  • For Putnam County Highway and Facilities, click here.
  • You can submit information and complaints to Public Works in Westchester County here.

If I missed any contact information to list here or you have more to add to a town or county already listed, please feel free to list them in the comments.

It is going to be a little while before road crews can get out there and start filling the potholes with asphalt, so please be safe on the roads.

Signs have started going up on some roads, warning drivers of the potholes ahead. Not all roads have signs though. So to be safe, drive slower on all roads and be on the lookout for potholes.

And thank you in advance to all the road crews who are going to be working on the potholes. It's going to be a busy start to the warmer seasons!
