A couple of friends and I decided to go out for dinner and wanted to try somewhere new. The restaurant we picked is new to the Bethel area.

Note Kitchen & Bar is located on Greenwood Avenue, just down the street from Dolan Plaza. The name of the restaurant is in reference to a musical note, and some of the drinks have fun musical names.

They have small plates, snacks, and main entrees for lunch, dinner, and also for the lounge menu. There is plenty to choose from on the menus, with a good range of prices. For dinner, my friend Sara ordered the Steamed Clams (littleneck clams in an ale butter broth with pulled pork, tomatoes, and caramelized onions), my friend Kate ordered the Atlantic Salmon (This came with seared with a fennel and cauliflower coulis, fresh seasonal vegetables, the chef’s daily potato), and I ordered one of the specials, the Steak & Grits (this came with steak, which was layered around a grit cake and topped with a Gorgonzola sauce and greens). For dessert, we got one dessert and everyone tried it. We decided on the chocolate chip bread pudding and it was another delicious choice.

We all enjoyed our meals, but I think the grit cake was the most popular part of all the meals. My friends each took a piece and both really liked the grit cake. What is a grit cake? It was delicious, creamy grits with a fried outer shell. The crunchiness mixed with the creamy grits center was so good! I'm hoping they add the grit cake as a snack or small plate option.

The décor of the restaurant is nice and relaxing. They have a small dining room area, seating in the lounge, and nice large windows that look out to Greenwood Avenue. The lounge area also has a few different seating options. There's high top tables, regular dining tables, and couches. It's a very inviting environment.

The staff was fantastic. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We had a few questions about the menu and she was able to answer all questions with no problems. Plus, we were not rushed at all and were able to sit at the table and talk for a bit.

It's always a good night when I get to meet friends out for dinner, we have a good time when we get together, but it's made even better when we are at a nice restaurant. I can't wait to return to Note and try something new.

Have you been to Note yet?
