We always love to salute our area's best teachers, school administrators, principals, and educators in general.

Frank LaBanca who is the principal of
Westside Middle School Academy in Danbury was recently announced as the "Outstanding First Year Principal of the Year" by the Connecticut Association of Schools.

There will be an award ceremony in Southington later on November 9 where he will be given the prestigious award. LaBanca is a resident of Sandy Hook and has been the principal since the school opened last year.

LaBanca is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, and has a master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport, as well as an educational doctorate with instructional leadership from Western Connecticut State University here in Danbury.
