Every Tuesday Morning at 7:20 & 8:20 AM, we feature a Pet of the Week from the Animal Welfare Society of New Milford. This week, we re-cap the last few month's to fill you in on what pets are still available.

I real happy to say that we have such a great group of listeners that just about all the dogs and cat's who stop by and visit us, and become our weekly pet of the week, have been adopted and have gone to some very loving homes.

There are a few however that are still available and ready for someone to give them a new home and a new life.

Here's a couple of dogs that are still waiting and hoping that they will be the next to be adopted and find their forever home.

Zelda is a great pup — a lab mix — she was featured back in September 2016 when she was just about 5-months-old. She was adopted shortly after she was featured on the show, but the owners just recently returned her to the shelter because she was a little more active then they were looking for. She gets along fine with other dogs and loves people, plus she would be great with kids. She could use a home with a yard, and needs plenty of exercise. If you’re looking for a lifetime companion, then think about giving Zelda her first forever home.

Elmer was just on the show with us a few weeks ago. Elmer is a Spuds Mackenzie look alike and is a 2 year old Pit Bull who had a rough start in life. However since he’s been at the Animal Welfare Society things have gotten a lot better. He is an active dog who hasn’t had any training and needs to learn how to behave properly, and would be great in a home where he can be part of the family. He get’s along well with other dogs and people, (so much for that Pit Bull stigma) and would love to cuddle with you in his new forever home.

For more information on Elmer and Zelda, and all the other adoptable Dogs and Cats, call the Animal Welfare Society at (860) 354-1350 or visit them on Dodd Road in New Milford.

They’re open Tuesday from 11 AM to 7 PM, and Wednesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM.
