New Milford Mom Asks You to Run For Joe This Sunday
Mimi Leto is a sweet and unassuming woman who suffered the unthinkable when her son, Joe, passed away in 1999. We have talked about her son and you can see that he is still very much alive in her heart.
U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Joe Leto graduated from Canterbury School in 1997. Two years later, he died during training exercises. In the aftermath of his tragic death, his mom and the Leto family set up the Joe Leto Scholarship Fund and have hosted the annual "Run For Joe", a one mile fun run and 5K along with his alma mater. This the the 19th year that "Run For Joe" has benefitted day students from the area by providing this funded by attendees of this annual event.
The rain-or-shine event begins with registration from 12:30 to 1:00pm, the run starts at 1:30pm and a reception will be held afterward.
