Sunday, April 22 is Earth Day, and Harrybrooke Park in New Milford is celebrating with an all day event featuring animals and vendors.

In a press release, Billy "Mo" Buckbee, Harrybrooke Park's Executive Director, said,

Earth Day is celebrated a bit differently by many people but this year, but we are a bit different too. This event will focus on animals, animal and insect education and the natural green growth in the park. It is not a fund raiser for the park, but rather to help our neighbors. Especially the children of our community Wildlife Line.

Some people think ‘Earth Day’ and think about recycling and this is great, but Earth Day to us represents educating the community and caring for all the gifts that we have. From plant life to insects and the animals that provide so very much for us, it’s a different look and one we are excited about.

Wildlife Line rescues and rehabilitates injured or orphaned wildlife and returns them to their natural habitat. No injured animals will be on site that day, but the event will feature over 40 vendors, including animals and animal education. Rabbits, sheep, lamb, reptiles, dogs, cats and horses will be represented.

Jayna Larkin, who volunteers for both Wildlife Line and Harrybrooke Park, stated,

Earth Day isn’t just about or for people and we begin to help by learning about all of the Earth’s inhabitants and their role.

Harrybrooke Park's Earth Day event runs from 11 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, April 22. Admission is free. The park is located on Still River Drive in New Milford.
