Connecticut rules during this season of singing competition shows. Guilford gave us the newest American Idol Nick Fradiani, now a Newtown native is this latest winner of The Voice.

It's good to be a singer from Connecticut these days.

Sawyer Fredericks has won the eighth season of NBC’s “The Voice.”

Fredericks, who's just 16, now lives in upstate New York, but spent his early childhood in Newtown, and grew up in Roxbury. Saywer took the title during Tuesday night’s finale. The acoustic singer-songwriter edged out fellow finalists Meghan Linsey, Joshua Davis and Koryn Hawthorne. He was also part of team Pharell and scored the first Voice victory for Williams.
