Oktoberfest was originally a wedding celebration. A wedding celebration with lots of beer. ArionSingingSociety.com states that Oktoberfest began way back in 1810 when Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig I married Princess Theresa of Saxony-Hildburghhausen on October 12 of that year in Munich, Germany and is now a world-side celebration that begins on the third weekend in September through the first Sunday in October.

Well that certainly explains why Oktoberfest is celebrated in September now doesn't it?

Now that we know that, are you looking to celebrate? This weekend, New Milford's Arion Singing Society on Route 7 will host its annual Oktoberfest today and tomorrow, September 2 and 3 from 1:00pm to 10:00pm each day. Great music, bratwurst, kielbasa even potato pancakes and lots and lots of beer. Admission is $10.00 with kids under 12 admitted free.
