Improving the infrastructure is a good thing. Unfortunately, it can be a headache for commuters, even when the construction happens overnight.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced that it will be conducting a night time milling and resurfacing project along route 39 (Ball Pond Road) and Milltown Road in the towns of Danbury and New Fairfield. The project is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 15th, 2017 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The project consists of milling and resurfacing a segment of Route 39 (Ball Pond Rd.) in New Fairfield and a shorter segment of SR 839 (Milltown Road).

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 39 (Ball Pond Rd.) between Route 37 and the Danbury town line and on SR 839 (Milltown Rd.) between Route 39 and the New York state line.  Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.(Sunday through Thursday)

Motorists should be advised to expect slow-downs in the area, and that modifications or extensions to this schedule could be altered due to weather conditions or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are also advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
