Pluto IS a Real Planet and the Other Planets Need to Stop Bullying

For those of us who grew up with 9 planets in our solar system, I've got some good news for you.

If you're like me, you refused to accept that the planet we all knew as "Pluto" was demoted. Imagine, going through your whole life of approximately 4.5 billion years (records weren't kept back then like they are now so Pluto doesn't have a birth certificate on file anywhere), only to find out that everything you knew about yourself is not real. That kind of news can send a planet into another stratosphere.

Just look at this sexy spherical body of planetary wonderment and you will see that Pluto brings a lot to this galaxical party (yes, I made that word up). Pluto has multiple moons, an underground ocean, an atmosphere of many layers, organic compounds and, there's even some evidence that it once had lakes.

Bustle.com is reporting that a new study by the University of Central Florida says the reason Pluto lost its planetatial status (look at me making up more words!) is bulls--t! It goes on to explain stuff about gravitational forces, orbits, frozen gases, the Kuiper belt, blah, blah, astronomy stuff, yadda, yadda, blah.

Dr. Philip Metzger of the Florida Space Institute at the University of Central Florida and Kirby Runyon, the Planetary geomorphologist and morphodynamicist at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, conducted a study and they both agree that size matters when your determining if one is a planet or not. Does its gravity allow it to be spherical? Then, guess what? It should be a planet.

It turns out this is an important milestone in the evolution of a planetary body, because apparently when it happens, it initiates active geology in the body. It's more dynamic and alive than Mars. The only planet that has more complex geology is the Earth." -Dr. Philip Metzger of the Florida Space Institute at the University of Central Florida

Looks like the galaxy has been shaken up and stirred once again. In 2006, The International Astonomical Union demoted Pluto to a "dwarf planet." So, it's up to them to reverse that status.
