On May 25, 2016, there was a fire that burned down an old mansion in Newtown. It had been there since 1908, and police now believe they know the cause of the fire.

According to The Newtown Patch, the cause is believed to be arson. Chief Viadero made the announcement at a meeting with the Newtown Police Commissioners.

The mansion is located at 44 Castle Hill Road, and was pretty much destroyed in the fire. It was built in 1907 on 136 acres. The reason the police believe it was arson is because there were other incidents that happened two weeks before the fire that may have been related. Plus, the owner had installed a surveillance camera on the property.

I'm glad the owner had a surveillance camera, and that the police pretty much know that it was arson, but it still makes me sad that the mansion is gone. I never saw it in person, because the property is usually roped off, but I've seen pictures, and it looked pretty nice in its day.

Hopefully, between the surveillance and the other incidents that have happened, they will be able to find out who started the fire. It's pretty sad that some people think that something like that is fun. Is your life that boring? I'm seriously asking.
