Fall is here and that means it's time for apple and pumpkin picking. If your Facebook news feed was anything like mine this weekend it was filled with lots of pictures of your friends and their families out picking their apples and pumpkins. We joined in the fun and went pumpkin picking yesterday.

There are so many great places to go pumpkin picking around Connecticut and New York. We visit Blue Jay Orchards in Bethel each year for our pumpkins. Our daughter loves looking around the pumpkin patch for her pumpkin. Once she found the pumpkin she wants to decorate (and paid for it) we put the pumpkin in the car and headed to the tractor ride.

The tractor ride is fun for everyone. Once you have taken a seat in the trailer and the tractor driver introduces himself, your tour of the orchard begins. There are big signs throughout the tour that show how apples and pumpkins grow. The kids like the drawings and they like seeing all the apple trees. I liked the beautiful views of the fall foliage. The tour lasts about 15 minutes and the cost is $3 a person.

After the tractor ride we had to get some cider and cider donuts. So we made our way into the farm store. I love walking around in there, but it's hard not to buy one of everything. They have lots of pies to choose from, apple dumplings (so good!), their own apple sauce, honey, Halloween items, Christmas items, dip mixes, and lots of other things too. There is so much more than just apples and cider in the farm store. Plus, it smells amazing!
