A Putnam County man is behind bars accused of burglarizing the same home twice in one week.

On Dec. 9, residents from the Village of Nelsonville called the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department to report someone broke into their home and stole an undisclosed amount of items.

On Dec. 15, the same homeowners reported that someone attempted to unlawfully enter their home.

Members of the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) conducted a criminal investigation which led them to arrest 24-year-old James A. Pidala of Phillipstown. Police didn’t say how their investigation led to the arrest.

Pidala was arrested in the Town of Philipstown and charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and second-degree attempted burglary, all felonies.

Pidala was arraigned in Town of Philipstown Court and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is due back in court on a later date.

If found guilty of the felony charges the Pidala could face up to 15 years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $15,000.00.
