A Display From the Heart in Danbury Honors Fallen Service Members

The lawn of the Old Main building at Western Connecticut State University’s midtown campus is bursting with pride for our flag, and heartfelt remembrances for the men and women who fought, and died to protect it.

Anytime I see this type of patriotic display, it takes my breathe away and brings tears to my eyes.

I urge you to take the time to visit Western Connecticut University's Midtown campus at 181 White St. in Danbury, for this overwhelming reminder that freedom doesn't come free.

The event page of wcsu.edu states that each flag represents a service member who has been killed in the line of duty since the War on Terror began on Sept. 11, 2001. The 7,008 flags have been placed by university staff, students and veterans.

Even though I've given you a glimpse of the display, it's truly more awe inspiring in person.
The annual Field of Flags will be on display until Nov. 18. Please don't forget that Veterans Day is Nov. 11. Anytime you see a service person, please take the time to thank them for their service.
