Shamrock Shake: The Facts

Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day and while everyone is getting ready to look their best in green and consume copious amounts of beer in the name of St. Patrick, others will celebrate a little more innocently. A St. Patrick's Day favorite, The Shamrock Shake is back at McDonald's.

Fun fact I've never actually had a Shamrock Shake. I think the fact it's green throws me off a little bit. But hey, I'm always willing to try new things. In celebration of the Shamrock Shake and St. Patrick's Day Roasted.Com shared some interesting Shamrock Shake facts. 

Did you know:

• There is a chocolate version of the Shamrock Shake? It's called the "McLeprechaun."
• The Chicago River is famously dyed green during St. Patrick's Day. There's also a huge, fake of course, Shamrock Shake found by the river on St. Patrick's Day that looks like it spilled into the river and caused the discoloration.
• The Shamrock Shake has been making appearances since 1970.

And here's the real kicker:

• There are 820 calories in a Shamrock Shake.

Whatever, calories don't count on holidays, right? The Shamrock Shake is available through March 19th at participating McDonald's.
