As the years go by, more and more controversy surrounds the 2nd Monday of October also known as Columbus Day. I always enjoyed this day growing up because it meant a 3 day weekend- no school and an extra day to sleep in and party. But now that I've grown into a mature adult (ha ha), I have noticed this day doesn't make a lot of people happy.

Two cities in the U.S. are celebrating Columbus Day differently for the 2nd year in a row. They changed the name to "Indigenous People Day." Seattle and Minneapolis are celebrating the native people Christopher Columbus encountered when he landed in 1492. So this begs the question: What do you think? Should we change the name of the day and recognize all people? I don't think it's a BAD idea, but I know people do hate change. Hey, whatever day gives people an extra day of weekend, who cares!?
