The latest news regarding rounds of job cuts for Connecticut companies came out the other day concerning Sikorsky aircraft.

According to The Courant, Sikorsky will be cutting up to 1400 jobs, with 180 of them right here in Connecticut. In addition to that, they will also be closing their Bridgeport facility entirely, and moving those employees to the Stratford location.

The cause for the layoffs is the reduced demand for commercial aircraft to ferry workers to offshore oil rigs. Thanks to the drop in oil prices, we're going to see these layoffs.

The Courant also says that demand for Sikorsky's military aircraft has been softer in recent years, causing these layoffs too.
