It seems like winter has lasted forever, and it has certainly left it's mark this year, but there are signs of hope. Here is a list of things that show winter is on the way out and spring is slowly making an appearance.

Add your observations to the list in the comments! We can start getting excited about spring!

  • The temperatures during the day are starting to warm into the mid to upper 40s, always a good sign.
  • Since the temperatures are warming up during the day, you can easily start the day with a winter coat, change to a light jacket during the day, and switch back to a winter coat at night. Gotta love New England weather.
  • With the warmer temps comes the river of melting snow down your street.
  • That river freezes at night to form a nice layer of black ice (until it starts melting the next day...again).
  • Enough snow has melted so we can now see the curb.
  • Your walkway no longer has a thick layer of ice on it (just sand, lots of sand).
  • You can see grass!! Granted, it's brown, but still...you can see grass!!
  • The potholes...oh the potholes. Okay, this may not be a "sign of hope", but it's a sign of spring with all that snow and ice melting to reveal the potholes. Payne Road, you have become my nemesis.
  • The snow on top of the grill has finally melted. Burgers and dogs, anyone?
  • It stays light out until almost 7 at night!
  • You don't have to spend 45 minutes bundling the kids and getting them in the car (to drive 10 minutes to the grocery store).
  • I am starting to hear more birds chirping in the morning.
  • The car doesn't need 15 minutes to warm up.
