Once again this year the Connecticut Law Enforcement Community will come together and participate in the 30th annual Special Olympics Torch Run.

 

More than 3,000 people in blue will be a part of this three-day event which kicked off on Wednesday morning in Old Lyme.

According to New Milford Police, the Torch Run will get underway around 7:30 AM The route starts at the New Milford Town Hall on the town green, goes west on Bridge Street and then heads south on Danbury Road (Route 7) to the Brookfield town line.

WFSB,com reports that In Connecticut, the run will cover over 500 miles and go through more than 100 cities and towns. The goal was to raise $500,000.

The three-day event will culminate Friday night on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University.
