A line of thunderstorms that swept through our area Tuesday evening left thousands of people without power and one man dead. Storm damage and loss of power even forced some school districts to close today.

Route 7 was closed for a time between Riverview and Grove roads; it has since reopened.

 

Connecticut Light and Power reported 4,510 customers without electricity.The highest number of outages was in New Milford, where 2,285 were without power.

The loss of power even caused some school districts to be cancelled.

 

In New Milford, there was no school Wednesday. The Region 15 school system, which covers Southbury and Middlebury, was also closed on Wednesday because of storm-related power outages and unsafe road conditions.
