Not so fast.

If you were planning on watching the old Tappan Zee Bridge being blown up this Saturday, you will have to wait awhile, as Saturday's scheduled demolition has been postponed.

Piermont, NY Police Chief Michael O'Shea told Lohud.com that state officials had decided to put the demolition on hold due to this week's high winds.

With controlled demo, there's a concern that stuff could blow into the channel of the shipping lane.

The news will certainly come as a disappointment to local residents and restaurants, many of whom had planned demolition-watching parties. Local officials are hoping to hear a new date for the demolition by Friday.

The demolition was scheduled in the first place, because engineers determined that the old bridge was too dangerous to be dismantled the traditional way, with workers taking the span apart while on it.

So, sit tight for a new date. Hopefully the spectacle will be worth the wait.
