Today in our Pet of the Week segment, Melody from the Animal Welfare Society in New Milford introduces us to Roscoe, and has some good advice on how to adopt a new pet for Christmas.

If you're looking to surprise someone with a new pet this Christmas, think again. Now we're not saying not to adopt a pet this time of year, but too often people want to get a new dog or cat and give it to a family member as a gift. However you may have to leave the element of surprise out of the equation, and for good reason. Melody will explain in our video segment this week.

She's also going to introduce you to Roscoe, a very cute male Beagle mix, who's been at the Animal Welfare Society since being rescued from a southern high kill shelter in October. Roscoe is hoping he finds someone who wants to give him his first forever home.
