Looks like we're going to be having a heatwave - a tropical heatwave - so if you're one of those who like it hot, then you're going to love things around here later this week.

According to the extended forecast from the National Weather Service, this week should be our hottest week of the summer so far. Some areas of Connecticut and New York may even experience a heatwave, which is when you have three or more days with temperatures that are 90 degrees or above.

According to noaa.gov, a warm front will pass near our area on Tuesday and this will start things rolling and push temperatures up a few degrees each day. By the end of the week and into the weekend, the mercury could get up as high as the mid-90s, with the heat indices making it feel more like 100 degrees.

If the heat wasn't enough, we'll also be dealing with the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry, as heavy rain could be possible some time late Wednesday into Thursday.

So get ready as we turn the Bunsen burner up a few more notches towards the end of the week and into the weekend. Here's the official NWS Forecast:

Tuesday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
Wednesday
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 88.
Thursday
A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86.
Friday
