From the Putnam Daily Voice comes the great news that New York State Assemblyman, Charles Lavine, a Long Island Democrat has drawn up a bill that will make Apple Crumb Pie the official state pie! Can I get a "Hallelujah" and an "Amen!!"

Chief Baker, Rob Brigati, from White Post Farms in Melville reached out to Lavine after returning from a pie contest in Florida, telling him that, "Many states were getting into the official pie-picking game." I honestly did not know there was such a thing as a "pie picking game." Currently there is no "official vegetable" for New York, but rumor has it that two state senators are going back and forth between the onion and sweet corn. You'll be happy to hear that the "brook trout" is the official fish of NYS adopted in 1979 and the "apple" is the official fruit adopted in 1976. The official state song is "I Love New York," written by Steve Karmen.

The official state beverage in NYS is "milk," adopted in 1981. The official state snack is "yogurt," and the official state muffin is the "apple muffin." Now please focus and get on with your day!
